As a trainer Mary has had many years of experience working in primary care, and the development of practice nursing. Three years of involvement in facilitation at Health Authority level were followed by two years as a tutor and course organiser at the University of Exeter. Having attained her Masters degree in Health Care she continues her work there as an external examiner.

Mary has taught widely throughout the UK and has been involved in nurse development and training programmes in Bosnia, Egypt, Slovakia, Uzbekistan, China and Thailand. A special interest in cervical cytology sample taker training is complimented by her consultation skills, teambuilding ability, personal and professional development expertise and training of trainers.

PDI has been commissioned by NHS Primary Care Trusts for the past eleven years to provide cervical smear training, and is the sole provider in the south west peninsula of England.
